Dreams of Cadiz

from Circles in Time by John Holden

/

about

The Andalucían tradition of flamenco music and dance is an art form with a long and rich history dating back as far as the 9th century. In essence, flamenco is a ‘body language’ integrated with rhythms which unite to convey a multitude of strong psychological motivations and profound emotions. Dramatic movements, facial expression, colourful costumes, staccato heel strikes and hand claps combine, resulting in a breath-taking display of skill and beauty.
Flamenco is passionate and fiery, sparking images of romance and seduction. Liquid acoustic guitar melodies and slow rhythms build into fierce, explosive sequences. The pulses of the audience race as they become immersed in the evolving dance of life. Joy and sadness, love and loss.
Emotions laid bare.
Imagine if you will that you are seated at an outdoor table on a sultry Andalucían night close to the action. Enjoy a glass of Manzanilla, loose yourself, and maybe your inhibitions in the passion of the
flamenco!

lyrics

Flashing red silk
Raven black hair
The heat of your eyes
In warm summer air
The beat of the night
Passions that climb
Movement seduces
With circles in time

Abandoned to rhythms
Lost in the past
Glances like treasure
Stolen at last
Fiery sensations
A heart may forgive
Flamenco guitars
Dreams of Cadiz
